TREATMENTS
SOUND THERAPY - Treatments are usually finished with a few minutes of sound therapy, the frequencies from the singing blows help align the aura while the client is still in a deeply relaxed space.
CRYSTAL HEALING - Crystal can be used in conjunction with a reiki treatment, each crystal has a specific frequency and healing properties and can help amplify and direct the reiki healing energy.
Reiki treatments are deeply relaxing and people sometime fall asleep. While we are in a deep state of relaxation our bodies find it easier to heal and we can communicate easier with our higher consciousness (that knows what is best for us)
It is actually the client themselves who carry out their own healing, the reiki therapist acts as a channel for the energy, allowing it to flow them, out through the hand chakras and into the client.
All treatments are done fully clothed. We work in the aura and at times may gently touch the body but only with clients permission.
Treatments vary in time, normally about 1 hour depending on circumstances. These times include a brief consultation and time for a glass of water and to discuss treatment when finished.
What people feel during a reiki treatment can vary but generally most people experience deep relaxation and heat.
Some common experiences include:-localised heat, tingling, coolness, deep relaxation/heaviness of limbs, visionary colours/images, temporary exaggerated pain where client already has physical pain.

REIKI AFTER CARE
Rest as much as possible for the rest of the day, or at least for a few hours, to give the body time for healing to take place.
Please drink water regularly for 24-48 hours after receiving reiki. Reiki de-hydrates and detoxifies. Drinking plenty of water will help the process of detoxification and also re-hydrate the body. A few medical conditions are not suited to increased drinking water intake – if in doubt please check with your GP.
Reiki is known to be very safe, and gentle. Following a reiki session it is possible to experience one or more of the list below. These reactions are normal, so please don’t worry if you experience any of these symptoms, or let it put you off having more reiki treatments. However if they persist for more than three - five days, it means that a healing process has been activated, and needs time to clear (as with most complementary therapies). Again there is no need to be concerned. It is advisable when possible to return for another session, or a course of reiki, to complete the treatment. Much in the same way as a course of antibiotics needs to be completed; reiki begins the healing process, and can often be most effective by having further treatments.
POSSIBLE HEALING REACTIONS:
Mild/dull headache (check you are hydrated, by increasing your fluid intake!)
Slight thirst (check your fluid intake)
Tiredness, lethargy
Tearfulness/weepy
A need to urinate/go to the toilet more frequently
Mild nausea
Pain at the site of old injuries/wounds
Temporary re-occurrence/flare-up of old illness/condition (less common).
Reiki works on all levels: physical, mental, emotional & spiritual, and on of all the systems of the body, via the endocrine system. This helps ensure that all our organs/cells, are working in balance. Often the body has imbalances (most people) - because reiki seeks to re-gain balance (homeostasis), a healing reaction/contra-action can occur. This should be viewed as positive, if troublesome, and should pass quickly. If a client has a long term/chronic illness or condition - a healing reaction may last for a few days, or so. Coming back for further treatments should help to lessen the reaction. If you have any concerns please do contact me. NB: If on medication - It is advisable to tell your GP or consultant whenever you receive reiki or any complementary therapy, so that medications can be adjusted, if necessary, and progress can be monitored. By working together with conventional medicine, holistic therapies are most effective. I am more than happy to write a letter on behalf of my clients, to their GP, consultant, or to other therapists, to describe reiki, its possible effect on the body’s physiology, and the desired outcomes. Please ask if you feel this would be valuable for you.
